Why I Started Sequoia CPA

This is the story behind Sequoia CPA—and why I left the startup world to build something slower, steadier, and more supportive for small business owners.

For years, I worked behind the scenes in the startup world—handling payroll, managing finances, building systems as companies scaled quickly. I saw firsthand what it looked like to operate under pressure, chase growth, and juggle competing priorities.

But the more time I spent in those roles, the more I realized something was missing.

There wasn’t always space for people to ask questions. Or slow down. Or really understand what the numbers were telling them. I kept coming back to the same thought:

What if small business owners had the kind of financial support that was steady, strategic, and actually human?

That’s what led me to start Sequoia CPA.

From Fast-Paced Growth to Grounded Guidance

I didn’t want to build a traditional accounting firm. I wanted to create something that felt more personal—where business owners felt supported, not judged. Where they had someone they could talk to openly about their finances, and make confident decisions with clarity.

At Sequoia, we offer monthly bookkeeping and fractional CFO services for service-based small businesses. But our work goes deeper than transactions and reconciliations.

We help our clients:

  • Understand what’s actually happening in their business financially

  • Plan ahead, not just catch up

  • Make choices from a place of calm, not stress

Why This Matters

I started this firm because I believe financial support shouldn’t feel out of reach—or out of touch.
You deserve a partner who sees the full picture, not just the spreadsheet. Someone who can help you connect the dots between your goals and your numbers.

That’s what Sequoia CPA is here for.

If you’re looking for steady, strategic bookkeeping or CFO support that feels collaborative and clear, I’d love to connect.

And if you’re not quite ready for that step yet—that’s okay.

You’re always welcome to explore this space, take what resonates, and come back when the time feels right. I’m glad you’re here.
