Episode 29: One Year of The Accounting Edit: What We’ve Learned

One year, countless lessons, and we're just getting started.

When we recorded our first episode of The Accounting Edit, we had no idea where it would lead.

What started as a simple idea between two accounting firm owners became something much bigger. A place to share experiences, have honest conversations, connect with other business owners, and document the realities of entrepreneurship as they happened.

One year later, we're looking back on the lessons, surprises, and moments that shaped the journey.

In this episode, we reflect on what we've learned from a year of podcasting and a year of growing our businesses alongside it. We talk about the unexpected challenges, the conversations that resonated most with listeners, and the personal growth that came from consistently showing up and sharing our experiences.

One of the biggest surprises was realizing that the podcast became more than an educational resource. It became a way to build community. Through listeners, guests, networking events, and connections formed along the way, we've been reminded that entrepreneurship can feel a lot less lonely when you're willing to share the journey.

We also discuss how our perspectives on business have evolved over the past year. Some lessons came from successes. Others came from setbacks, pivots, and moments that forced us to rethink our approach. Looking back, every experience contributed to growth in ways we could not have predicted.

As we celebrate this milestone, we're also looking ahead. We share our vision for the future of The Accounting Edit, including bringing on more guests, exploring new topics, and continuing to create conversations that help business owners feel informed, supported, and inspired.

If you've been part of the journey from the beginning or you're just discovering the podcast, this episode is a reflection on how far we've come and where we're headed next.
